Thanet Lions Club has a track record of 42 years of community service in Thanet. We are a good mix of men and women with an age range of 18 to 80. Enquiry for membership is always welcome because the more members we have the more we can do to help the local community.
We are part of an International Organisation but we do like to spend most of the funds raised locally on the local community. We are currently collecting goods, shoeboxes for a lorry load of aid going to Gomel, Belarus. We have good connections there, and a local Lions Club. We are supporting schools and orphanages. If you have anything to offer please contact us on 0845 833952. The goods need to be received by middle of August so that they can be packed and listed, the lorry leaves first week of September.
In May we arranged a date for tea and entertainment for a coach of senior citizens from Elham Valley. Our new Leo groups (young Lions) from St Georges School and Ellington & Hereson School organised the afternoon, the entertainment and the food. Many thanks to the pupils and staff who joined us in this community service. In June we are taking a coach of senior citizens from Thanet to be entertained by Elham Valley Lions Club.
Summer is approaching (we hope) and our main vent to enjoy is our famous summer fete. If you are linked to a voluntary or charitable group then there is an opportunity for you to have a stall at our Summer Fete (Sunday 29th August at Victoria Garden, Broadstairs).
Come and enjoy the coconut shy, hoopla and the best hot dogs, home made cakes and tea in town.
